How to say "we" in Spanish

"We" in Spanish is nosotros, or nosotras when everyone in the group is female. The verb ending -mos already says "we", so Spanish often leaves the pronoun out: Somos de aquí.

Four points about the word for we.

Mixed group or all women

nosotros covers men and mixed groups. nosotras is only for a group of women or girls. One man in the group makes it nosotros.

Verbs end in -mos

somos, estamos, tenemos, vamos. That ending alone tells the listener the subject is we.

Leave it out, or stress it

Somos de la capital. is complete. Add nosotros for contrast: Ellos son de aquí, nosotros no.
